Halff Associates Inc. is seeking to hire an experienced Associate Planner / Urban Designer to join the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma office. The ideal person for this position can thrive in a collaborative work environment with an interdisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers on a variety of planning efforts. The Halff Oklahoma City team is involved in exciting planning projects in Oklahoma and beyond ranging from comprehensive plan preparation; parks, recreation, and trails planning; active transportation planning; downtown, corridor and special area planning; urban design and land planning; development codes; and more.

 

The responsibilities of the Associate Planner / Urban Designer will include support of senior staff projects, public engagement, plan development, report writing and document production, and assisting with the preparation of computer-generated maps and graphic elements needed to convey the ideas produced in each planning effort.  The successful candidate can work on assigned tasks collaboratively or autonomously as conditions require, conduct research and produce project deliverables, coordinate with client representatives, and confidently interact with the public and stakeholders.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in community/urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or a closely related field;
  • 3 years of experience in a planning capacity;
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with computer programs (GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup and Microsoft Office programs) and the ability to produce attractive maps, graphics, and written documents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both the public and private sector;
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and highly motivated;
  • Demonstrated abilities in facilitating community stakeholder input and public meetings;
  • Strong writing and graphic skills;
  • AICP certification.

If collaborative work is shown, credit team members and note your role where applicable. Work samples should be legible and include no more than four or five carefully selected projects/exhibits that provide a breadth of the candidate’s knowledge and skills. Samples created using Adobe applications, Google SketchUp, ArcGIS and AutoCAD are preferred.
