Salary Range: $54,080 - $74,216 annually

The Planner I is an entry level Planner position responsible for completing a variety of work related to planning development proposals, permit reviews, and planning research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts permit reviews, field evaluations, and assessments; provides information and assistance to the public for planning, zoning, and development related questions; evaluates or assists in the evaluation of plans, plats, special use permits, variances and other current planning proposals.
  • Prepares necessary reports to the Planning Commission and City Council on current planning case work; Works with others in the division on planning studies, initiatives, and community engagement; prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
  • Collects a variety of data and research and prepares reports in support of planning studies and initiatives.


Experience:  This is an entry level planning position with up to one year experience preferred. 

Education: College courses towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or related field required.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
